Mutual fund industry added 34 lakh folios in March 2026
Folios & AUM: The industry added 34 lakh folios in March 2026, taking total folios to 27.39 crore. Total AUM stood at Rs 79.46 lakh crore, down from Rs 83.43 lakh crore in the previous month, largely due to negative mark-to-market gains driven by domestic and global factors.
Inflows & Outflows: The industry registered an overall outflow of Rs 2.39 lakh crore, primarily due to liquid fund outflows. Equity funds remained resilient with net inflows of Rs 40,450 crore. Debt funds saw outflows of Rs 2.95 lakh crore, leading to total open-ended fund outflows of Rs 2.40 lakh crore.
NFO Activity: 23 open-ended NFOs were launched attracting Rs 3,743 crore, while the only close-ended NFO drew Rs 242 crore.
T30 & B30 AUM: T30 AUM stood at Rs 59.84 lakh crore versus Rs 13.89 lakh crore for B30 cities. Direct plan AUM stood at Rs 33.28 lakh crore against Rs 40.46 lakh crore for regular plans.
Ticket Size: Average AUM per folio in B30 towns was Rs 93,000 versus Rs 2.45 lakh in T30 cities. The combined retail average stood at Rs 1.69 lakh, while the overall industry average (retail and corporate) was Rs 2.69 lakh.
SIP Activity: SIP inflows for March 2026 stood at Rs 32,087 crore with total SIP AUM at Rs 15.1 lakh crore. New SIP registrations were 52.82 lakh while 53.38 lakh accounts were discontinued. Total contributing SIP accounts stood at 9.72 crore.
ARN Registrations: 5,288 new MFDs registered with AMFI and 4,798 ARNs were renewed in March 2026.
